Summary

Are you an experienced leader with a passion for delivering successful infrastructure projects? L48BESS is seeking a Construction Director to join our team and lead our UK-wide construction delivery programme. As our Construction Director, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of our infrastructure projects from planning to handover, ensuring that our projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.

About Lower 48 BESS Limited (Battery Energy Storage Systems)

L48 BESS is a visionary new energy player that is committed to revolutionizing the UK's renewable infrastructure through the development of Battery Energy Storage Assets (BESS). Our mission is to contribute to the essential renovation of the UK's renewable infrastructure and support the transition to clean energy.

We have a highly skilled team of professionals with real ambition and financial backing, who are passionate about developing a robust, trusted and integrated international BESS portfolio and grid connections to accelerate the decentralised creation and use of renewable electricity. Our vision is to develop and own a portfolio of 250MW of Battery Storage in the UK in the next 2-3 years, with a further expansion in the next 5-7 years delivering a Battery Storage capacity of 1GW.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage all aspects of our infrastructure projects, including planning, design, construction, commissioning, and handover phases.
  • Develop and implement project strategies, plans, and budgets to achieve project objectives and deliverables.
  • Oversee project teams, including engineers, contractors, and subcontractors, ensuring efficient and effective project delivery.
  • Provide leadership and direction to project staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performance team environment.
  • Develop and maintain stakeholder relationships, including engagement with government agencies, local communities, and other relevant parties.
  • Monitor project progress and performance, identifying and mitigating risks and issues to ensure timely and successful project delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, regulations, and safety requirements.
  • Prepare and deliver project progress reports, presentations, and other documentation as required.
  • Manage project budgets, financial reporting, and procurement activities to ensure cost-effective project delivery.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • Excellent working knowledge of JCT contracts and experience of acting in the capacity of Contract Administrator or Employer’s Agent.
  • Extensive experience in managing infrastructure projects, preferably in a leadership role. Experience in an Energy related field and particularly with Battery Energy Storage Assets (BESS) is considered advantageous.
  • Proven track record of successful project delivery, including meeting project objectives, budget, schedule, quality, and safety requirements.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire teams to achieve project goals.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Sound understanding of infrastructure engineering principles, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, work under pressure, and adapt to changing project requirements.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Willing to travel across the UK to meet project requirements.
