Summary

Lower 48 Energy BESS (L48 BESS) Limited is seeking an Energy Engineer to spearhead the expansion of our renewable energy development business into the Polish market. The successful candidate will play a critical role in leading engineering, project management, and site origination for BESS projects in Poland. This position will also involve supporting the management on day to day operation of the business and conducting due diligence on operational renewable energy projects. The role will be based in either London or Warsaw, Poland with focus entirely on Polish energy origination, and will require frequent travel between London and Poland.

L48 BESS is a visionary new energy player that is committed to revolutionizing the UK's renewable infrastructure through the development of Battery Energy Storage Assets (BESS). Our mission is to contribute to the essential renovation of the UK's renewable infrastructure and support the transition to clean energy.

We have a highly skilled team of professionals with real ambition and financial backing, who are passionate about developing a robust, trusted and integrated international BESS portfolio and grid connections to accelerate the decentralised creation and use of renewable electricity. Our vision is to develop and own a portfolio of 250MW of Battery Storage in the UK in the next 2-3 years, with a further expansion in the next 5-7 years delivering a Battery Storage capacity of 1GW.

Responsibilities:

• Lead engineering, project management, and site origination activities in the Polish market for BESS projects.
• Assist in setting up the Project Pipeline Portfolio in Poland, evaluating potential new projects through feasibility studies and site assessments.
• Collaborate with the transmission and distribution operator to identify connection opportunities for BESS/renewable energy generation sites.
• Manage the planning process, including environmental assessments, permits, and approvals.
• Conduct due diligence on operational and shovel-ready renewable energy projects.
• Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, such as utilities, regulators, and local communities.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical).
• 3+ years of experience in an engineering role, preferably in the renewable energy sector.
• Strong understanding of renewable energy technologies and engineering principles.
• Project management experience with a successful track record of delivering projects on time and within budget.
• Ability to work effectively individually or as part of a team.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Fluency in Polish and English.

Bonus qualifications

• Proficiency in a programming language such as Python and/or SQL.
• Power system modelling experience using PowerFactory, PSSE, ETAP, or equivalent.
• Familiarity with local transmission and distribution network operators in Poland.
• Existing network of EPCs (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) within Poland.
• Experience in leading teams of junior engineers.
• PVSyst design experience.
